Jack Mabry (Robert DeNiro) has only a few weeks before retirement and wants to finish the cases that have been assigned. One such case is that of Gerald "stone" Creeson (Edward Norton), a convicted arsonist who is on probation. Jack is reluctant to enjoy the jokes thick stone you want to follow and feel little sympathy for the prisoner pleads for an early release. Seeing little hope to convince Jack to himself, Stone arranges for his wife Lucetta (Milla Jovovich) to seduce the officer, but the motives and intentions constantly blur amid the passions and buried secrets of the corrupt agents in this mortal game of deception.
